Unique Father’s Day cards + What to write inside 2022

In this article:

Father’s day in the UK is fast approaching (19 June, eek!) and you probably haven't even picked a card for him yet. I mean – choosing the right card for men in general can be tedious at the best of times (they always say they don’t want anything but we also know they secretly love being the centre of attention for a day).

So let me help out a bit here. Here's what I am thinking: what if this year the card you are getting dad is super unique, colourful, funny (but not in a dad joke kind of way :D) aaaannndd uber great quality?

Here are a few ideas. Get them for your dad, your grandpa, your husband or any other guy in your life who became a parent. I also included some things you can write inside. You are welcome!

Father’s day cards for the grumpy dad

Being grumpy is such a dad thing. Avoid cute and cuddly cards and get one of these instead:

  1. A sarcastic, grumpy bear to mirror your dad’s mood.

  2. An unimpressed manly bear. Very dad indeed.

Here are some suggestions of what to write to your grumposaur of a dad:

  • Here’s to you and your grumpiness! Happy Father’s Day!
  • Thank you for being my dad.
  • Stay awesome. Happy Father’s Day!
  • To the king of grumpiness. Happy Father’s Day!
  • Happy Father’s Day, Dad. OK. Good talk.
  • Ugh, fine, here’s a card to show my feelings for you.

A card for tough dads

We all know that dad’s thing is to act all tough when instead he’s just a softie. Get him this tough cat card – tough on the outside, super soft on the inside.

Here are a few messages to write inside:

  • I'm so proud to be your kid. Happy Father's Day, Dad!
  • To the coolest dad ever. Happy Father’s Day!
  • You’re one of my favourite dads! Happy Father’s Day!
  • You’re awesome. Stay awesome!
  • You’re one of my favourite parents. Happy Father’s Day!

A boozy card for cat dads

Normalise getting cards from your cat(s)! Cats make great kids too (sometimes they’re even better than the real thing). I say that the guy in your life will appreciate this funny one: it’s cheerful, it has booze, it is insane.

Now – you get loving cats and you get crappy cats. Depending on your cat’s personality, here’s what to write inside:

  • Thanks for not letting me starve! Love, Cat
  • You’re my favourite scratching post. Happy Father’s Day!
  • You’re the awesomest (!) cat dad ever!
  • *insert paw mark*
  • You are meowgical. Happy Father’s Day!
  • I love you more than I love boxes.
  • Signed, Cat

Card for the absent father

Family can be difficult and not all dads were created the same. This is a tough one, but if your dad was pretty absent while you were growing up, just send him this rude mermaid card. It’s quirky, it’s funny and it is not sentimental at all.
Get it here

What you write in it can be as funny, mean or basic as you want. Here are just a few suggestions:

  • Thank you for not being a part of my life!
  • Here’s to another year of being a crappy dad! Happy father’s day!
  • If today was anti-father’s day, I’d say you’re the best!
  • For the world’s best absent father. Signed, X
  • Gee, thanks.
  • Happy Father’s Day.

Here's why you need these cards:

  • They'll make your dad laugh. For sure. Or at least smirk (which is a great achievement in itself)
  • They're quirky and unique - something your dad hasn't seen in all the years he's received all those other damn cards
  • You get free shipping on them. Generosity at its best
  • They are pretty big
  • The envelope is included
  • They come blank, so you can either write a novel or just a simple 'Yo, dad. Happy whatever day'.
  • Your dad can frame them later on (or throw them away, whichever he prefers)

Okay, now go get them here.
